Yesterday, on my way to work, I noticed the front pages of the local newspapers:
Fund-raising group milks vulnerable senior citizens
Rossi slashes Gregoire's lead
N.B.: The story is mostly positive news for Democrats, including graphs showing our leads in Presidental, Gubernatorial, and Senate races. Rossi is unlikely to overtake Gregoire.
This morning, it's more like:
FBI investigating how Halliburton got contracts
Explosives may be on videotape in visit during Iraq invasion
And I'm not just looking at newspapers either. More, after the jump.
My bus trip to work takes me down Lake City Way/Bothell Way, and I've seen lots of interesting things:
- The corner where the Lake Forest Park for Peace group usually has a dozen protestors/campaigners, currently has two old men--veterans, one sign claims--campaigning for Bush, and trying to make up for numbers by putting up extra flags and BC04 campaign signs. It looks pretty sad, really.
- There seems to be a preponderance of BC04 signs that look, well, cheap and crappy. They're not official signs but knock-offs--vaguely similar fonts, somewhat similar layout, no red in the sign at all. I'm still not sure what it means, but I tend to interpret it as "not enough money for good signs."
- Many of the posters I've put up--like BigPath's "Bush wrong in Iraq" poster or the "Two Faces Of George Bush" poster are still up. I'm hoping people have seen them and have decided to act accordingly.
So, what encouraging sights have you seen in the area?
Tomorrow I go canvassing for Kerry in Shoreline/Lake Forest Park/Kenmore. This is our last weekend, and it's time for a huge push. If you can, meet me at Jay Inslee's campaign HQ at 9:30 AM, and let's show them what democracy really looks like.
